To try and fix the iPod touch 3rd Gen issue try this:

1. Make sure you have updated to the latest iTunes
2. Restart your computer.
3. Make sure you don't have iTunes open when you click make it ra1n.
4. Make sure your internet connection is working.
5. Make sure that you are on firmware 3.1.2.

Hi to all,
I have an iPhone 3GS 3.1.2 (7D11) with modem firmware 05.11.07. I have tried blackra1n_RC3_Win.exe, but once I try to install apps from a torrent that I have downloaded I get a message that the application was not installed on the iPhone because of an unknown error (OxE8008001) or because it was not signed. In addition to that whenever I try to reboot I get the known message about being in recovery mode and that I need to recover the iPhone in order to work. Any ideas???

@Anonymous: The reason that your apps don't work is because you have not installed a patch file for your app store apps. To do this go into Cydia and add this source: http://cydia.hackulo.us

Then install AppSync for OS 3.1.

Once it's done, respring and you can install your apps from iTunes.

For your second problem, it is likely that your 3GS is a newer one and the 24k PWN is patched and your phone is tethered. This means that you have to run the jailbreak program every time you reboot. A fix for this is in the making.
